A rare sight indeed, the Hôtel du département is today covered in a thick blanket of snow, as is the rest of the Orne!

2009 has come to an end. It was marked, certainly, by the financial crisis, but also by a number of events which will prepare the Orne, and France, for the future.
Alain Lambert wishes to send you all his best wishes for the year to come.

Alain Lambert inaugurated the new logistical centre of Matfer-Bourgeat on Friday 4th December, along with Patrice Mora, the group’s President and Luc van Ryssel, its Director General, and other elected representatives involved in the project.

The department’s elected representatives met on the 27th November for the Permanent Commission, presided by Gilles de Courson on dehalf of Alain Lambert. They adopted several motions for the improvement of life in the Orne.

Jean Monet college in Gacé has won the annual Cross-Country Competition for the seventh year in a row. The competition, organised by Orne Council, brings together more than 1,600 students from across the department. This year’s event took place on the 18th November at the Haras du Pin.

The ‘Mammobile 61′ is a mobile Brest Screening Unit.
On its 8th tour of the district, it offers all women between the ages of 40 and 74 the chance of a free mammography (a low-dose x-ray examination which is a quick, complication-free method of detecting cancer).

On Saturday 7th november, Alain Lambert inaugurated the prestigious boutique-hotel ‘Côté Parc’ in Rémalard. Created by the famous TV presenter, Pascal Bataille and his wife Adra, this new establishment not only offers several luxury holiday apartments but also a boutique, a spa and tea rooms.
