The old railway gets a haircut

An exhibition about
the old railway line, « Voie Verte », Alençon
to Condé-sur-Huisne,
2 - 6 March 2009
The disused railway line that runs from Alençon to Condé-sur-Huisne is currently undergoing a make-over. For 20 years this 67km of track has lain neglected under brambles and undergrowth.
But a new era is dawning, as a program of works undertaken by the council means it should be open to walkers, cyclists and horse-riders by the end of the year.
Winding its way though picture-postcard parts of the county, largely in Le Perche, it skirts forest and rivers and occasionally gives out onto vistas across the bocage. It is also part of the hiking route from Paris to Mont-Saint-Michel.
An exhibition about the project is currently running at the council offices in Alençon, and a guest book is available to take people’s comments.
