4th Annual Business Competition
Orne Council wants to help bring out the entrepreneurial spirit of those in the county.
That’s why it is proposing this contest for the fourth year running. Organised by the Economic Expansion Committee, Orne Developpement, it’s open to start-ups, buy-outs and business ideas.
1st Prize: 10,000 euros
With a total of 34,000 euros of prize money, the county is hoping to assist entrepreneurs with the putting in place, consolidation or development of their business. Ten prize-winners will be picked, with the first and second prizes being 10,000 euros and 6,000 euros respectively. The prize-giving will be held at the Council in June.
About the Competition
The contest is open to businesses created or purchased in the county during 2007, 2008 or the first quarter of 2009. It’s also open to those with a business project which has still to be realised. The business must be registered in the Orne (for existing companies) or make a commitment to do so in the 12 months which follow the prize-giving (for projects).
The jury is composed of elected representatives, business leaders and representatives from various freelance professional bodies. The competition is run by members of the County Council, the Economic Expansion Committee, the Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the Chamber of Agriculture, banks, professional bodies, the districts and Employment centres.
Results from previous competitions show that 70% of previous prizewinners are still in business, of which more than 90% are still in the county.
