RD17 still closed

There was a landslide onto the RD17 near Saint-Pierre-du-Regard during the night of 17th March.
The council acted immediately to secure the area by removing several more boulders which were in danger of falling onto the road.
On the 2nd April, agents for the County Council commenced tree-felling along the edge of the cliff to make the area accessible to the heavy plant from “Ouest-acro”. The company will start drilling for anchoring points at the beginning of next week and remove the remaining unstable rock-face of approximately 30 - 40 cubic metres of stone.
From the middle of next week and after a survey of the cliff-face, holes will be drilled to enable the installation of 40mm metal trusses for holding in place the remaining rocks. This work will take until the following week, when a protective mesh will be put up along the cliff-edge to stop small stones and debris from falling.
The road will therefore be closed until the 17th April in order to allow this work to be undertaken. The council are doing everything it can to allow traffic to start moving along this stretch of road and will be putting in place a contraflow system as soon as possible after the 17th.
