The ‘ Schola de l’Orne’ will be singing at the Hôtel du Département for  “Pierres en lumières dans l’Orne”

During the night of “Pierres en lumières dans l’Orne”, Orne Council will be opening its doors for a series of three concerts performed by the Schola de l’Orne choir.

It will also be an opportunity to discover the Council in another light, and to visit two photography exhibitions currently running there - “A Sunday in Cuba” (Un dimanche à Cuba) by Christian Vallée and the “Best professional photographs of 2008″ (les plus belles photographies professionnelles de l’année 2008).

Along with its President, Alain Lambert, Orne Council wanted the emblematic site of the Council’s headquarters to be closely associated with this nationwide event and to open its doors to local inhabitants. It has organised three free concerts from 6pm in the evening. The Schola de l’Orne choir will be performing a series of religious cappellas from around the world (Estonia, UK, Lithuania, Sweden, France, USA, etc.)

Before each concert, in the central courtyard,  there will also be a short presentation of the Lyautey Barracks - explaining the property’s military history and the renovations that have been undertaken in order to install the different services that make up the Council.

Two photographic exhibitions to discover

Visitors will discover an intimate view of Cuba in the exhibition “A Sunday in Cuba” (Un dimanche à Cuba) by Christian Vallée, a photographer who lives in the east of the county in Le Perche.
There is also an exhibition of photographs by the winners of this year’s Spring Photography Festival, the “Best professional photographs of 2008″ (les plus belles photographies professionnelles de l’année 2008). the 17 winning photos present images of sport, travel, food, animals and publicity shots…
