Ceremony of remembrance

On the 8th May Alain Lambert, Jacques Martineau, maire of Putanges-Pont-Ecrepin, and Roger Gesbert, local president of the Veterans society came together for the annual ceremony of remembrance.
‘Armistice de 1945′, or VE Day is a public holiday and events are held across the country. In Putanges it was a memorial mass held at 11am. Afterwards the cortège moved towards the central square to lay wreaths by the village memorial on this, the 65th anniversary of the Battle of Normandy.
