« Pierres en lumières » at Saint-Céneri
16th May
As part of “Pierres et lumières” on Saturday evening, Orne Council and the village of Saint-Céneri have organised a concert in the grounds of the chapel to inaugurate its new illuminations. It was installed during the winter and lights the chapel, the fountain opposite and the banks of the River Sarthe.
The mairie, the villagers, volunteers and local associations will be coming together to light all the historic buildings with candles. The village is listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France and boasts a monument to the 100 Years War, a bridge, a 12th century church amongst others. On Saturday the focus will be on the 14th century chapel which is situated in a pasture by the river. It will be the first time visitors can see the illuminations which were funded by the village and the County Council.
Open-air concert by the chapel
Alain Lambert, who is President of the Council but also a municipal councillor for Saint-Céneri, has decided to offer an open-air concert in the magical surroundings or the chapel grounds. ‘Quint et sens’, who are part of the ‘Kiosque des arts’ association, will be playing Boccherini and Mozart from 10.30pm. And from 10pm the group ‘La planche à laver’ will be playing New Orleans jazz in the streets of the village…
