Following on from the Pierres en lumières events in May focusing on local heritage, this exhibition, which was originally shown in the Halle au Blé at Alençon has come to the Council buildings on Boulevard de Strasbourg.

Due to its overwhelming success, the Council will be hosting this exhibition all summer long, following which it will be moved to the Musée départemental d’art religieux in Sées

The exhibition shows off the architectural and artistic characteristics of the five Pays which make up the Orne: pays d’Alençon, pays du Perche, pays d’Ouche, pays d’Argentan, pays d’Auge ornais and pays du Bocage.

The Department’s Archives present an exhibition about the Duchy of Alençon through the middle ages.

Rediscover the history of this powerful family, through surprising contemporary documents, original objects as well as digital reconstructions, as it runs from Normandy to Brittany to the Maine, where the Duchy owned huge estates.
The exhibition focuses in particular on the individual stories of the dynasty’s most famous characters through the construction of their estates, the hardships of the Hundred Years’ War, Jean II and René, the reconstruction of Marguerite de Lorraine…
