A dictionary for every child starting collège

The start of the school year has also been busy for Orne Council, as they organised the delivery of the new Robert pocket dictionary to every child entering “6ème” in the department. A total of 3,800 children received the book.
Between the 8th and 18 September every councillor in the Orne distributed the dictionaries in their district. These specially printed editions contain a section about the department, with useful information for young adults. Working for a better future for all of today’s children is one of the Council’s main preoccupations. Alain Lambert, President of Orne Council, remarks “…It is now, from the first months of collège, that our children lay the foundations of their future and, consequently, of the Orne of tomorrow.”
The Council owns the 31 collèges in the Orne and is thus responsible for their construction, renovation, maintenance and day-to-day management. It is also in charge of their fixtures and fittings and computer equipment. Every day it ensures the safe transport of 17,000 students around the department.
