First “Crash Test” in the Orne

A88 - the Orne viaduct

Work on the Orne viaduct on the A88 between Falaise and Sées was inagurated on the 29th June. RD17 reopens on the 27th April

Work has been undertaken to secure the site and remove dangerous rocks which are in danger of falling onto the road. Last week holes were drilled to enable the installation of 40mm metal trusses for holding in place the remaining rocks, work which has been completed today. Public meetings about the Flers-Argentan road

Orne County Council is going to develop the road between Flers and Argentan by creating a dual-carriageway. This big project, part of the Orne Road Plan (Plan Routier Ornais) has already undergone feasibility studies in 2004-2005 and was declared in the ‘public interest’ on the 10th April 2006 after public enquiries.



RD17 due to reopen 29th April

There was a landslide onto the RD17 near Saint-Pierre-du-Regard during the night of 17th March.
Work has been under way to secure the site and remove dangerous rocks which are in danger of falling onto the road.

There was a landslide onto the RD17 near Saint-Pierre-du-Regard during the night of 17th March.
The council acted immediately to secure the area by removing several more boulders which were in danger of falling onto the road.

The equine jewel in the crown

Orne County Council honoured the best local breeders and trainers in horse racing and equine sports. It took place during the annual Stallion Parade at the Haras du Pin on Saturday 7th March. Among the stars of 2008 were 8 thoroughbreds, 8 trotters and 7 Selle Français. Also featured were the impressive Percheron draft horse, emblem of Le Perche in the east of the county and Norman donkeys.
